General: 
This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks that are relatively all encompassing. This is comprised of general electrical work to be done in County buildings, including some general construction and remodeling. There is also garden work such as lawn mowing, trimming, etc. This position also has the responsibility for the maintenance, monitoring, computer assisted modification and adjustment, as needed, to the various HVAC mechanisms present within the County Buildings.  This position works under general supervision on routine recurring assignments, receiving specific instructions on each new and/or unusual assignment. The work is reviewed via inspection or discussion with the Department Head of Maintenance. 
 
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Working knowledge of, and basic skills with, computer systems.
Work experience: 2 years’ experience in performing various maintenance tasks
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operators license
Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check
 
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic electrical work, carpentry, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, lawn care, snow removal, and painting.
Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, with a minimum of supervision.
Knowledge of safety precautions and OSHA requirements.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to work well with others, including vendors, sometimes in close proximity or under difficult conditions.
Must possess general computer related skills, and be able to read, write, and speak English.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following list is not exhaustive. It is intended to be a guide only as to the type of work required:
Mow lawns, remove ice and snow from steps, sidewalks, and parking lots. All general grounds related work.
Repair and replace light switches and fixtures, and replace bulbs, as needed.
Open drains, repair faucets, and make repairs to all plumbing fixtures, as needed.
General electrical work in and on County properties and grounds.
General maintenance and repair of County buildings, as needed.
General landscaping and grounds work.
Repair and maintain County equipment including, but not limited to, weed eaters, garden tractors and minor vehicle repairs as needed or directed.
Monitoring of and responding to a variety of HVAC related responsibilities and adjustments from office or remote locations.
Maintain a log and enter data relating to service and upkeep of County vehicles, including oil changes, inspections, and general upkeep. Delivery and pick-up of vehicles as needed.
Any and all other duties as assigned by the Department Head.
 
Physical and/or Special Requirements:
Sufficient strength to perform tasks and work in inclement weather
Work is performed both inside and outside in varying conditions including wet, humid, extreme heat or extreme cold environments.
May be required to stand, walk, use hands and arms to operate tools and equipment, climb, stoop and lift or carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds.
May be exposed to excessive dust, rodents, mold or mildew; may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals.
